Effective January 1, 2011, the generation rate caps that have been in effect since 1999 will expire and a new rate structure will take effect throughout the Allegheny Power (aka/ West Penn Power) service territory in accordance with the overall plan for Pennsylvania Deregulation. The new rates will be based on the results of a series of competitive wholesale procurements that began in April 2009 and continue through October of 2010. While Allegheny Power will remain the default supplier of electricity or Provider of Last Resort (POLR), it is incumbent upon all commercial and industrial users of electricity to seek and obtain the best electric rates available for their respective organizations.
As rate caps expire and are replaced with market-based prices, customers may find savings opportunities with Alternate Energy Suppliers. You must contract with a supplier for an “All Inclusive” price to assure you are getting the best deal. Not all suppliers offer an all inclusive price. We make sure our clients won’t have any surprises when they get their first bill from their new supplier!!
Commercial Utility Consultants (CUC) has been active in PA Deregulation since its inception in the 1997 Pilot Program. CUC has been active in the Allegheny Power service territory for over 30 years. As independent consultants, CUC does not restrict its solutions to any particular alternate energy supplier. We solicit bids from all of the major licensed Electric Generation Suppliers (EGS) to assure that our clients obtain the lowest possible cost for their energy. Our recommendations are always tailored to best serve our clients’ needs. CUC has specialized in lowering utility bills for 35 years. Our expertise could provide you the edge you need to stay ahead of your competition in the deregulated Allegheny Power/West Penn Power marketplace.
